Obama lands 2 jabs in bout with Hillary
February 28, 2007
THINK OF IT as revisionist politics.
The Clintonistas and some of their chums in the elite media want you to think that Hillary Clinton actually got the better of Barack Obama in their recent scrape over the comments by movie/music mogul and Obama supporter David Geffen.
Excuse me, but what fight were they watching? Hillary never laid a glove on him. And Obama got in two sharp jabs — one that he served up himself and one delivered by his campaign spokesman, Robert Gibbs, who now is under fire from liberal bloggers because he is so effective at drawing blood from fellow Democrats.
At the very least, the Clintonistas seem to be hoping that the verbal shoving match has shattered the spell that Obama has had on much of the national media and that, from this point forward, he’ll be treated like any other candidate for president.
Hillary Clinton Does Not Respond Well To Criticism
February 28, 2007
No president in recent history has been mocked, second-guessed, criticized and condemned more than George W. Bush. It’s not my purpose to defend Dubya, he deserves much of the abuse, but I have to admit that he hasn’t lost his good nature.
Contrast Bush’s reaction to adversity with the way Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton handles criticism. David Geffen, the Hollywood mogul, and former Clinton friend and donor shared his thoughts about Hillary Clinton with the New York Times:
“Everybody in politics lies, but they (The Clintons) do it with such ease it’s troublingâ€
“I don’t think that another incredibly polarizing figure, no matter how smart she is and no matter how ambitious she is—and God knows, is there anybody more ambitious than Hillary Clinton?—can bring the country together.â€
Bill & Hillary: Has America had enough of the Clintons?
February 28, 2007
Hollywood mogul David Geffen recently threw his money behind Barack Obama and blasted the Clintons sparking a battle between the presidential campaigns. It is a minor political spat that nobody save for a few Washington elites should care about but it has brought up the interesting question of whether we all have had enough of Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Referring to Hillary Clinton, Geffen told New York Times Columnist Maureen Dowd, “I don’t think that another incredibly polarizing figure, no matter how smart she is and no matter how ambitious she is - and God knows, is there anybody more ambitious than Hillary Clinton? - can bring the country together.” Geffen went on to call Bill Clinton a “‘reckless guy’ who gave his enemies a lot of ammunition to hurt him and to distract the country.”
Geffen’s acidic comments about Hillary are unfortunate, especially this early in the ‘08 campaign season. How can one fault her for being ambitious when Geffen’s candidate of choice is aiming for the presidency after serving only two years in the Senate? As for Bill, it’s unfair to dismiss him as an asset to Hillary’s campaign based solely on his past behavior. You can not ignore the transformation his image has undergone since leaving office. Recent polls place Bill Clinton somewhere among the top 5 greatest presidents as he has now become a respected elder statesman.
Clinton Defector Dick Morris Escalates Tirade Against Senator
February 28, 2007
Hot on the heels of a personal assault on President and Senator Clinton by their former chief fundraiser, David Geffen — which sparked a feud with Mrs. Clinton’s Democratic rival, Senator Obama — the Clintons’ former confidant, Dick Morris, is showing that he intends to keep up a constant barrage of criticism and bad memories of the former first couple in an effort to ensure that Mrs. Clinton does not return to the White House.
Pardons reemerge as issue in Hillary Clinton presidential run
February 28, 2007
Six years ago, the launch of Hillary Clinton’s career in the US Senate was marred by allegations that her brothers had received payments from people pardoned by President Bill Clinton in the waning months of his presidency.
Now, in the wake of the launch of her presidential campaign, the pardon controversy has reemerged in an obscure court case in which Senator Clinton’s brother Tony is battling an order to repay more than $100,000 he received from a couple pardoned by President Clinton.
Tony Rodham, who acknowledged approaching the president about a pardon for the couple, is the second of Hillary Clinton’s brothers to receive money from people who were eventually pardoned by President Clinton. Hugh Rodham received $400,000 from two people, one of whom was pardoned and one whose sentence was commuted
