Hillary Clinton supporters still trying to derail Obama nomination

August 20, 2008

SCRIPPS HOWARD - A massive e-mail and Internet campaign is under way aimed at derailing the nomination of Barack Obama and making Hillary Clinton the party’s standard bearer next week at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

“It’s downright nasty,” said Memphis, Tenn., superdelegate and city council member Myron Lowery, who has shared dozens of the messages he’s received with The (Memphis) Commercial Appeal newspaper.

“I think it’s divisive for the ‘Support Hillary’ campaign to continue at this time. She made the decision to fully support Mr. Obama,” said Lowery, who initially supported Clinton but later switched his allegiance to Obama. “I don’t know why they’re not taking their cue from Hillary and falling in line.”

Lowery said he does not believe Clinton herself is behind the effort, but that it’s “her supporters, acting on their own because they’re proud of what they have done for her.”

Most of the messages Lowery has received from across the country come from Hillary supporters making the case that she won more voters’ votes in the primaries, she won bigger states, that Obama won states that won’t vote Democratic in November, and that she is the only “electable” Democrat.

“I think it’s a terrible tactic,” said Memphis delegate, Baptist minister and Shelby County, Tenn., Democratic Party Chairman Keith Norman. “We had hoped that this kind of politics, especially from within the party, would have been abandoned.”

A pledged Obama delegate, Norman noted that some of the attacks are overtly racist and that in one instance Obama was likened to “the Anti-Christ.”

“We have a historic moment that we need to grasp and we need to move forward as a unified party,” he said.

It is a sad day to think that someone like Obama may soon be running our country. I am a Democrat but I cannot and will not vote for Obama for our next President. It should be Hillary Clinton as the nominee……hands down….. and if Obama does not choose her for a running mate I predict that he will not be voted in as our next President. We need someone strong, educated, and all knowing like Hillary to be running our country……she will get things done in a timely manner for the good of all of the citizens in the United States……..Obama…….not gonna’ happen…….in my opinion he is truly elitist and he may be educated but he is in no way to be President of our country.

This has been the plan since the last night of the campaign when Obama surpast the number of delegates needed for the nomination and Hillary came up short by more than 150 delegates. Everyone knew it was not over when the following morning on national TV, Terry McAuliffe introduced her as the next President of the United States. Less than 12 hours before Obama had been declared the winner by the DNC. The Clinton campaign said all along “we will take this to the floor of the convention.”

We were given a glimps of how low they would go with the DNC committee’s rule on the Fla. and Mich. delegates. Now we will be given an encore performance by the spoiled brats and loosers in the Democratic party. Her surrogates are giving her plenty of cover politically, deniability of instagation to protester control. Really, are 40 people on her “Whip team” carring signs for Obama going to attract more media coverage than the hoped for hundreds of Puma’s.

Now we have to watch Hillary try and take back what she has believed was hers all along. The nomination. In an interview before the Iowa primary Dr. Dean said, “one person will have 49% of the votes and one person will have 51% vote” and the loosers will find that hard to accept. Hillary still has not accepted her defeat. Next week we will have to watch an armed robbery take place on the convention floor as the Clinton mafia try to steal what they could not win.

The first name that will be placed into nomination will be Barrack Obama, the party’s “offical” nominee. Then some dim witted “loyalist” will place her name in nomination. The only way she can recover any sliver of respect is to at the moment her name is placed in nomination, take the podium, thank the crowd and ask that her name be removed before voting on the names placed into nomination, free her delegates and ask that all of them vote for Barrack . This way the Clinton faction gets over itself and on the first ballot Barrack is elected as the Democratic nominee for President. This will show everyone that we have united and no longer have a riff in the party.

    Otherwise, it’s McCain.

Funny thing is….what if McCain picks Jeb (former Fla. Gov.) Bush as his VP? Sounds like someone is thinking “GOP controls the White House” for 12 years.

I have voted for Democratic President since 1988! NOT this time. McCain is getting my vote. Obama is a sham. The Democrats disrespected the most loyal of Democrats by shunning Hillary Clinton…they will see that they can not push the voters around come Nov. He-he.

Got something to say?
